Pros and cons of Sanford Guide app for iPhone and iPad

Sanford Guide app good for

Great app. Much easier to find information, vs. the print version.
I have used Sanford since I was a Med student. I love this format; easy to use, and up to date.
Excellent up-to-date information in a well designed app. My only suggestion would be to change the transition effect on the sensibilities table to make it more visually pleasing.
If you are a doctor there is nothing better. Best doctors managing the content and easy to use Thanks so much!
Easy to use. Information is up to date. Very reliable source to use in clinic.
This is an indispensable resource for any physician. It has never steered me wrong in the treatment of an infection.

Some bad moments

Too expensive. Also how can I download my old content (which I paid for eg 2014) once the guide is updated (e.g. 2015) and my subscription period is ended (e.g. If I have to change my iPhone)? You force people to always renew the subscription
It says its free but you cant open it unless you buy the $30 subscription. Dont bother
I previously used the Sanford Guide gold app. It was ok, but not exactly a very user friendly app. When my subscription expired, I switched over to this new app. The subscription for iPhones costs $29.99, significantly more expensive than the good old reliable paper version. I plunked down my money for the convenience factor and clicked the subscribe button. After entering my iTunes credentials, it goes into an endless “Verifying” stage. I left it in this stage for over an hour and I still haven’t gotten through to the end. I have received a confirmation from Apple that my subscription order was completed. However, I cannot access the information that I have paid for. I have tried multiple times on multiple devices. I’ve deleted the app and reinstalled. No luck. The Sanford Guide is a good guide in paper format but they haven’t figured out how to adapt it to modern technology. this would be ok if the program actually worked after you paid your $30. STAY AWAY until fixed!!
This is an indispensable resource for any physician. It has never steered me wrong in the treatment of an infection.
So disappointed. Having had the book for a number of years as a resident and faculty, the app is so problematic. You have to buy the app to have anything useful - $29.99 and renew yearly. REALLY!? The value is completely lost. Given the multitude of other options for looking up antimicrobial treatment, the Sanford Guide is (sadly) no longer on my list of resources, and as an ID specialist at a large academic medical center, I do NOT recommend this for my residents and students. Greed was clearly the business model.
This is NOT free. does cost 30$. maybe annually but not sure yet. my paper copy lasts years. Think it is wrong to say it is free (which didnt sound right but worth looking into). think it should be cheaper as it looks to be an annual thing.
